Jessica Sooyoun Jung (born April 18, 1989), known professionally as Jessica, is an American singer, actress, songwriter, fashion designer and businesswoman currently based in South Korea. Born and raised in San Francisco, California, she rose to fame in the late 2000s as a member of the South Korean girl group, Girls' Generation. Debuting in 2007, the group quickly found success and became one of the best-selling artists in South Korea. During her time in the group, Jessica was active outside of the group in musical theatre, portraying Elle Woods in the Korean production ofLegally Blonde in 2010, reprising again in 2012; she also made her acting debut with the drama Wild Romance. Later on in 2015, she was confirmed to be the lead female role in movies such as "I Love That Crazy Little Thing", and "My Other Home" in 2016. In addition to this, she released various soundtracks to dramas. In 2014, Jung was removed from the group due to conflicts between her personal schedule and the group's. That same year, she established her fashion brand, Blanc & Eclare. Jung is set to release her debut solo album in May 2016.
